She sits on a swing Clad in thin rags In mid-winter in the snow Forsaken is she With no place to call home And no shelter to find solstice in She sits there singing softly Even though she knows Her voice is not sweet The song she sings Is a Christmas carol Heard by joyful children in the street She bows her head Prays to her God And wishes for some love And then she starts to cry For she knows Tears make no noise For sadness does not Wish to be heard It wishes to be understood And so she swings Gently back and forth Hoping for an angel to take her to heaven As the snow falls all around her She waits patiently for He
